Review: PureHeal’s Centella 90 Ampoule & Rosebud Perfume Co. Menthol And Eucalyptus Balm

Good afternoon there everyone!

So far, i have only shared with you guys two masks and an exfoliator. Therefore, i thought i should now share some of my skin care products that i used and talk a little about each of them.

Products i will be sharing here are:

  • PureHeal’s Centella 90 Ampoule (30ml)
  • Rosebud Perfume Co. Menthol and Eucalyptus Balm (0.8 oz / 22g)
(L-R; Rosebud balm, PureHeal's Centella 90 Ampoule & Lego Star-Lord Keychain)
(L-R; Rosebud Co. Balm, PureHeal’s Centella 90 Ampoule & Lego Star-Lord Keychain)

Q. What’s “Centella”? Is it edible like Nutella?

A. Good try, but no. Centella is short for Centella Asiatica. It is a plant with extraordinary healing and soothing properties and has been used for centuries in traditional remedy.

According to the PubMed Central (PMC from now):

Centella Asiatica extracts (also known as Gotu Kola) have been used traditionally for wound healing and the research has been increasingly supportive for these claims. Asiaticoside, a constituent in Centella Asiatica, has been reported to possess wound healing activity by increasing collagen formation and angiogenesis. Anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties were reported as well. (Source: Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences)

In short, Centella Asiatica will help wounds to heal faster (i.e. broken skin after popping pimples) and reduce swelling and redness (i.e. redness and size of pimples).

Q. Okay, so???

A. Therefore, lots of beauty brands’ R&D has collectively tapped into the wondrous healing ability of Centella Asiatica and include it in the anti-acne treatment range of products we see on the shelves today. Not all, but are able to tell by reading the ingredient recipe.

Okay, now let’s look at the official blurb from the brand. Unfortunately, it is written in Korean and this Singapore Lion is unable to translate, but have a look anyway:

Roaring view for [PureHeal’s Centella 90 Ampoule]:

Product’s packaging : Hygienic green glass bottle with a dropper dispenser
Product’s texture : Thick, clear, gel-like consistency that does not run
Product’s scent : Light, grassy scent – nothing unpleasant or overpowering
Price point : $30? (I forgot. According to instagram, i purchased it some 28 weeks ago, oops! 😁 )
Available at all Sephora Singapore islandwide
Try-out period : 4 months; 4 dots (forehead, both cheeks and chin) both morning & night
Personal take : The heavy green bottle makes this an aesthetically pleasing item. However, the thick gel-like consistency means that the ampoule does not dispense out uniformly and successfully every time. Meaning to say, even if i only need 4 drops, i may be needing to press/squeeze the dropper up to 6 or more times. Effectiveness wise, it does what it claims – my skin is calmer and hydrated. But does it work on pimples? In my case, it worked perfectly on soon-to-heal pimples, but does nothing for existing ones or preventing new ones from emerging.
Will i recommend it? : No. Although the price for this centella ampoule is very affordable, i believe i can find something that may work better for soothing, hydration and healing. For soothing and hydration, i look to the now discontinued Dr.G Super Aquasis Moisture Seed Ample (its upgraded form is Dr.G Aquasis Moisture Ampoule) that is available at SASA retail outlets islandwide.

Roaring view for [Rosebud Perfume Co. Menthol and Eucalyptus Balm]:

Product’s packaging : Round, tin can
Product’s texture : Thick, rich, ointment, salve-like texture
Product’s scent : Minty! Very refreshing; maybe a notch down from that of Vicks VapoRub
Price point : SGD$16
Available at all Sephora Singapore, Luxola Singapore
Try-out period : At least 2 years and counting (after some 5 or more tubs now)
Personal take : I have sway away from this in hopes of finding some other treasure but i ALWAYS seems to come back to this. The thick petrolatum coats my lips snuggly and tightly. To me, that is the perfect feeling i need to ensure a good sleep in the air-conditioned room. Plus, the cooling menthol & eucalyptus scent helps keep me calm (and my nose clear)
Will i recommend it? : Yes, proudly without a doubt. 🙂

Alright! I hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as i have enjoyed sharing it. I will be sharing more reviews soon, so do stay tuned!

Once again, thank you all for reading my blog, 안녕!   🙂
