Hello hello! 🙂
Welcome back to my little Roaring blog again. With 2 out of 10 product reviews out-of-the-way, let’s go on to the third one today – Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub (the UK version, i will show you why later).
Garnier is a pretty well-known drugstore brand and is widely available in many countries at the time of you reading this. The brand has such an extensive inventory covering skin care, hair care and body care. Combining the latest innovations with the purest extracts of naturally sourced ingredients, Garnier has got range of products that would definitely help you to, in their tagline, take care.
Not much info can be found on the brand’s history but this is what i can find:

Remember earlier in the post when i talk about the charcoal scrub being the ‘UK version’?
Well, apparently, there is another version of this scrub available to the US market under another name.
Take a look:

PS. Garnier UK, if you can see this, maybe you can upload the correct product image of the Charcoal scrub?
Okay, minor technicality aside, please read on for my review of the Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub:

Roaring view for [Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub]:
Product’s packaging | : | Simply plastic squeeze tube with a ‘tight’ black flip-open cap |
Product’s texture | : | Typical gel-based cleanser with tiny black colored scrub granules suspended |
Product’s scent | : | Fragrant – smells exactly the same as the rest of the cleansers within the Pure Active (acne/blackhead/pores) line. |
Price point | : | SGD$12.90 |
Venus Beauty SG stores islandwide, Boots International, Priceline, Amazon, eBay | ||
Try-out period | : | aprox. 3 weeks (nightly) |
Personal take | : | Personally, i think the wacky combination of 2% Salicylic Acid and “ultra-absorbent” Charcoal is a winning one.
The Charcoal scrub cleanses the skin incredibly well but may not work well on combination skin that lean towards the drier side. Effectiveness wise, this Charcoal scrub did kept my skin clean and relatively trouble-free for that few days before i flew off to Bangkok for a short holiday and came back with -urghh- three big zits congregating at the chin area. From there on, this Charcoal scrub became a tad less effective towards the controlling of the situation. Prior to using this charcoal scrub, i was using the other scrub – Garnier Pure Active Intensive Anti-Spot Exfoliating Scrub, and never had an issue with it stinging my eyes. But with this charcoal scrub, it stings. My sensitive skin took the charcoal scrub well but not the eye area. I wonder why. |
Will i recommend it? | : | Yes. However, if you have a reactive skin type, it is best to ask for a sample, or do a patch test with the tester in store. |
To this, Buddy says:
PPS. This Charcoal scrub is part of the ’10 Products I’m Testing Out Now’ (see the post here). The reviews for the other 7 should be rolling out soon-ish 🙂 Stay tuned!
