Review: Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Eye Treatment

So just 3 days ago, i reviewed the Dr.Morita Whitening Essence Eye Mask (here) and gotten a couple of compliments on the improvement it made on my dark circles. However, I would like to add on that besides the treatment type of product (i.e. eye mask), the basic care product (i.e eye cream, eye gel, eye serum) is just as important too. For this, i prefer the Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Eye Treatment to get the job done.

I will get to the review of the eye treatment soon, but before that, let me sidetrack a little and talk about why you need both treatment eye masks and a basic eye care product.

Treatment products such as the eye masks are designed to complement your basic eye care products and not totally replaces it. Typically, we only leave the eye masks on for about 20 – 30mins to let it do its thing while a basic care product is applied and left overnight to keep the eye area hydrated and protected. Plus, depending on the features of the basic care product, some offers additional benefits such as lifting, tightening or whitening of dark eye circles on top of the primary hydrating effect. But, with that many eye care products out there in the market, how do you choose one that best suits you?

Well, let me share some of my little shopping tips with you guys:

1. Consider the eye care products offered by your favorite skin care brand

If the toner, moisturizer or cream you are using belongs to Brand A, make Brand A your first shopping stop to test out the eye care available. The synergy across the same branded products are usually stronger and works to complement one another without any complications.

2. Consider the reasons why you needed an eye care product in the first place

  • If your concerns are with deep wrinkles, you will need an eye care product that has more active anti-aging ingredients (e.g. Collagen, Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid) that will help with smoothing and plumping of those lines.
  • Now, if your concerns are with dark circles (like mine), then you need to find something with proven brightening or whitening benefits (e.g. Vitamin C, Liquorice, Lotus Flower, Pearl).
  • Lastly, if you just want to get one for preemptive measures, I will recommend going straight into one that provides ample hydration and soothing benefits (e.g. Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, Deep Sea Water, Cucumber)

3. Consider the texture of the eye care product

If your eye area feels particularly dry, you may want to consider choosing a creamier eye care product that will give you the much needed moisture and nourishment throughout the night. If you want something intensive yet afraid of the heaviness of a cream, reach for an eye serum – its moisturizing like a light lotion. If using the eye serum alone does not give you the sufficient moisture, you can opt for adding a layer of eye gel over the serum once it has been completely absorbed. Think of it as the serum offers the sort of corrective treatment and hydration you need with the eye gel forming a protective barrier that seals in all the goodness and moisture while the serum work its magic underneath.

4. Consider the price point

For simple hydrating and moisturizing effect, a simple and affordable eye care product can do the trick. For more advanced concerns, the price of the eye care product should be of equal proportion to the number of active ingredients in it – you should not be paying top dollars for a cucumber eye gel, capeesh?

There you go! With my little shopping tips, buying an eye care or any other skin care products shouldn’t be a daunting chore no more!

Okay, I agree the segment above is a little wordy so thanks for bearing with me and I hope i haven’t lost you guys yet! Now, without further ado, let’s move on to the next segment – the product review of Missha Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Eye Treatment!

Try-out period : 4 months; because i have been using it way before i even started blogging (Twice a day; morning and night)
Personal take : Honestly, i am quite the fan of Missha. They do manufacture some excellent skin care products and i personally own several of them (First Treatment Essence, Science Activator Ampoule for Men, Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Sleeping Mask, Time Revolution White Cure Science Blanc Spot Eraser, M Signature Real Complete BB Cream, Missha Real Auto Patting Puff, Secret Recipe Brightening Rice Mask; if you’d like to see any product review of a particular product that is listed here, just drop me a note). I had very high hopes when i purchased this eye treatment.

The Super Aqua Ultra Water-Full Eye Treatment did a wonderful job at keeping my eye area moist and soft. Its moisture-rich ingredients really prevented fine lines from showing up uninvited. The inclusion of Niacinamide as a whitening ingredient did brighten my under eye area gradually though not dramatically.

As a whole, this is a pretty good eye GEL that moisturize adequately. However, if you have drier eye area, this is definitely not sufficient enough.

Will i recommend it? : Yes, for its price and Triplex Aqua System, i say get it! Unless you have much drier skin then you need something heavier.
